Matthew's Christening

Matthew's christening was this past Sunday and it was a very nice occasion. Oddly enough, he was fussy before and after the actual baptism, but very calm all during the baptism ceremony. Hand of God? Who knows. The party afterward was lots of fun. I had so much food, but sent everyone away with large care packages, so I was able to get rid of most of it. I did keep a bunch of beef from Portillos, can't give all that away!

Mommy, where do babies come from?

I was on the way to Tutor Time to drop my my 6 year old, Mikey. He says to me, "I can't wait until Matthew is a big brother."

I of course tell him it won't happen. (I am done having the babies.)

He says to me, "well, when he's older."

I explain that you have to have a younger brother or sister to be a big brother and that it's not going to happen.

He says, "well, what if one gets in your eye?"

A common expression in my family if something happened waaaay before the child was born is, "that happened before you were even a twinkle in my eye." As a result, this is where Mikey thinks children come from.

I again tell him that won't happen. He next question was priceless.....

"Mommy, is that where they crack the egg? In your eye?"

Out of the mouths of babes.

Yay for me!

Ah, the little things in life....I actually have time to post again. I think summer is officially here, once again can't beleive how freaking hot it can get! I'm bummed because lots of my shorts from last year fit kinda in the waist, but not in the butt. I suppose I shouldn't be too upset, already fitting into my old clothes (for the most part) only 8 weeks after having a baby, but I can't help it. I have started doing some pilates, so that is good. What I should do is start saving some money for the tummy tuck and boob lift I really want.

So today I suppose Mikey and me will work on the stepping stones for our rock garden. I am starting a rock garden because I cannot grow anything, it ends up looking like crap and you don't have to water a rock garden, which is also nice. It ends up being such a pain in the ass. By halfway through the summer I think, oh screw it, just let all the flowers die...I don't care anymore!

Well, so much for that "me time".....Matthew is hungry, Elsie the cow is on her way!!!!

Why am I doing this?

I have recently come to the conclusion that I need a blog. I don't really know why. I guess it's because some of my friends have them and I have decided I am a loser because I don't have one. Not that I really have anything all that interesting to say....or maybe I do. Who knows?

Mikey graduated from Kindergarten this week. I totally screwed up, I thought the ceremony started at 10:45 and it actually started at 10:30. My poor boy was there, thinking his mommy wasn't going to come to his graduation. When I got there with Amma & Papa (my parents) he ran up to us and started to cry and told us how he thought I forgot. OMG! I felt so bad. I apologized over and over again. He said it was ok and that he still loves me, no matter what. *whew*

I need to concentrate and little more and get things together. Matthew is 7 weeks old and I have had a bit of a time adjusting to the change. Going 6 years between kids is like starting all over again. I also went back to work right away so that was a bit difficult. I like to say I only have so much space on my hard drive and I'm a bit over capacity at this point. I wonder where I can get some more RAM?

It's so strange....my mom watches my niece (I work downstairs) and she is 9 months older than Matthew. I swear, we figured he should act as old as she is when I first got back to work. The poor boy was 3 weeks old and we're thinking he will be like a 9 month old. Just ridiculous.

I am happy to say that he has "woken up" and now realizes there is a world out there! He's starting to make all the cute noises babies make, which is nice because all he used to do was snort (and cry, of course).

Mikey absolutely loves his baby brother. He is a big help, which is so nice, and he always wants to hold him and give him kisses. Matthew seems to like Mikey too, I think he's gonna let us keep him.

Well, I guess there is my first blog post. Not too bad. We'll see how often I post though....LOL.
