A Pumpkin and a Power Ranger

So obviously, Mikey was a power ranger and Matthew was a pumpkin. The pumpkin coustume was Mikey's when he was a baby. It's always nice when you can use something again. Mikey had originally wanted to be a vampire, but strangely enough once he really took a look at the costumes, he decided to go with something a little tamer. I had a feeling he would.

Halloween was fun. We had Trunk ot Treat at church which is always a good time. The food was great. We have a member who is a chef and he makes the coolest stuff.
FINALLY, the election is OVER. Man, I thought it would never, ever end. My guy didn't win, but I am hoping that Barak Obama will be a great president, for all our sakes. This country really needs a kick in the ass. I am confident we will prevail and be ok however. Just might suck for a while.
Going to see the in-laws in Michigan over Thanksgiving. I am really looking forward to it. Lord knows I need a vacation, even if it is sitting in the middle of nowhere in cold-ass Michigan. Sometimes doing nothing is the best thing for ya!

October already???

Hell, it's almost the middle of October already. Time just goes waaay too fast.

Matthew is 6 months old today. He's getting so big. It's so crazy how fast they grow. He REFUSES to take a bottle and it is driving me a bit nutty. I decided to start him on cereal and food. He does really good, unless he POed at something, then no go. We had some squash today and he seemed to like it enough. We go to the doctor for Matthew's check up on Thursday, so we'll see what the doctor has to say.

Mikey is awesome. He and Michael went to se wrestling live tonight. It was a surprise for Mikey and I can't until he gets home to hear all about it. Poor kid has been absent from school 3 times in the past 2 weeks. At the end of last week, he was out with strep. He was absolutely miserable for two days straight. Then last Thursday night we notice he has this rash on his face, chest & back. So...we kept him out of school to find out what that was all about. He was really self-conscious about it being on his face, I felt so bad. Anyway, it turned out the rash was a reaction from the medicine for the strep. I really hope he doesn't end up being allergic to amoxocillin.

So, what else? Lauren had her baby girl, Meika, who is absolutely gorgeous. Lauren, Allison & I all got together at Lauren's with our husband and kids and had a nice dinner. Mikey & Kaeden have such a good time together. Kaeden thinks Mikey is the coolest thing ever, and Mikey loves playing that role. He likes taking care of Kaeden.....it was nice training for Mikey with Matthew.

You should see these two boys, Mikey & Matthew, together. They are something else. Matthew just smiles and smiles whenever his big brother talks to him. Mikey had Matthew laughing his butt off by singing the days of the week song to him. I love watching them together.

So much to do....

...so little time.Although how it that different from anyone else's life really?

Mikey needs to be registered for school and after school care. My soon-to-be-sister-in-law's bachelorette party is the 23rd, the wedding is the 30th, Michael's birthday is the 29th....phew. I do have my dress for the wedding, but this weekend I will be on the shoe hunt. I am really looking forward to the party and the wedding. Should be a really good time as parties with my family usually are. I figure I should get some sort of fancy outfit for Matthew, but I had spending a ton on somthing the boy will wear once.

I guess that is all I have to say, which is -- nothing, really. I guess I was just bored, so go ahead and write in my blog that no one reads. Sweet.

Loving the Olympics

I love watching the Olympics. I didn't think I really would, but I keep getting sucked it. I watched the 4 x 100 Free Relay, which was SO awesome. Before the race, a guy on the French relay team said they were going to "smash" the Americans. Weeeelllllll.....the good 'ol USA decided that was going to happen. The USA brought home the gold (and SMASHED the old world record) and the French had to settle for the silver. If you're gonna talk smack, ya better bring it! One little factoid I found interesting.....Michael Phelps eats 12,000 calories a day!

The women's gymnastics is pretty good as well. I've always liked watching gymnastics. I'm not really sure why. My favorite event is the parallel bars. Then the balance beam. I just love seeing them flip all around. Again, not sure why and really, in the scheme of things, who cares? (That's for you Lauren :-) )

Of course, the opening ceremony was totally awesome! I couldn't help thinking though, if someone screws up, are they going to kill them? I saw one guy get a bit out of the line and I started yelling at the TV..."Oh God! Get back in line!"

I'm sure by now everyone knows that John Edwards is another lying, cheating scumbag. I could really care less, other than feeling sorry for his wife. I do have two points however:
- Edwards has admitted to the affair now. Before, he said that father of that kid was another campaign guy. So, if this woman was with John Edwards and also with the other guy, how big of a slut is she? I mean, damn. The next questions of course is, does the other guy have hair as nice as Edwards?

- The thing I REALLY don't get is these guys who are currently, or know they will run for office....why they cannot keep it in their pants. I mean seriously. You know it will eventually come out. You know that will hurt your chances in winning whatever office. WHY do you then do it? It's like *duh* if you ask me.

Well, there are my thoughts for the day.......have a good one!

Looooong Time

Wow, it's been over a month already since I have written. What a lazy ass I am! Oh well.

Let's see since my last post Itasca Fest came and went, we had a "dress the baby" shower for my friend Lauren since she is having a girl and all the rest of her friends have boys, went on a nice weekend vacation to Michigan and the best of all -- Matthew has started laughing! He had laughed for my mom and one of her friends and when I would try to get him to laugh he would give me this look like, "well, I'm not gonna laugh for you because I know it drives you crazy." It's funny, I got many warnings about those boys names Michael. I think Matthew is going to be the handful. Anyway, on our trip to Michigan, my dad's cousin's dog (got that?) like, totally jumped on Matthew and me. No damage was caused, but after the dog got down, I fully expected Matthew to start to cry. Well, as kids tend to surprise, he apparently thought it was hilarious because I finally heard his laugh!

Things have been pretty crazy. My parent's house is in totaly disarray since they are having it painted before my brother's wedding. The poor woman, watching 3 kids and her house not in it's place, which if you know my mom, not having her house "just so" makes her nuts. It's almost done and it looks great so things will be back to normal soon.

Well, that's really about it....August should be a crazy but fun-filled month!

Matthew's Christening

Matthew's christening was this past Sunday and it was a very nice occasion. Oddly enough, he was fussy before and after the actual baptism, but very calm all during the baptism ceremony. Hand of God? Who knows. The party afterward was lots of fun. I had so much food, but sent everyone away with large care packages, so I was able to get rid of most of it. I did keep a bunch of beef from Portillos, can't give all that away!

Mommy, where do babies come from?

I was on the way to Tutor Time to drop my my 6 year old, Mikey. He says to me, "I can't wait until Matthew is a big brother."

I of course tell him it won't happen. (I am done having the babies.)

He says to me, "well, when he's older."

I explain that you have to have a younger brother or sister to be a big brother and that it's not going to happen.

He says, "well, what if one gets in your eye?"

A common expression in my family if something happened waaaay before the child was born is, "that happened before you were even a twinkle in my eye." As a result, this is where Mikey thinks children come from.

I again tell him that won't happen. He next question was priceless.....

"Mommy, is that where they crack the egg? In your eye?"

Out of the mouths of babes.
